What do Lands End,  Kitchen Etc,  Eddie Bauer, Barnes & Noble, Pets.com, and Hickory Farms have in common?
They are all among more than 600 companies that will donate a percentage of your on-line purchases to the Church of the Resurrection (or hundreds of other nonprofit groups) if you access them through the iGive.com web site. (iGive is not altruistic - they also get a percentage)
We don't want anyone to spend more for an item just to support the church,  but if the price is right,  please consider making a few extra keystrokes to help the church.  Click here to check out iGive.   Thank you.

We welcome guests and newcomers to Resurrection. We hope you will join us, not only for this worship service, but also for the fellowship of coffee hour afterwards.

Thank you to the Sunday School teachers for hosting our Advent wreath making event last Sunday. What a wonderful way to begin the season of Advent!

Today we will be hosting our 3rd annual Cookie Walk during coffee hour. It is the Feast of St. Nicholas, so perhaps we will have a special visitor to join in the festivities. Bags will be on sale during coffee hour for $3 each or 2 bags for $5. Please join us for food, fun, and fellowship.

Lorna Rutty and Dornella Seth have graciously agreed to work on our altar flower ministry and they are now accepting donations for Christmas flowers. If you would like a name included on our memorial list please use the form on the back table and print the names clearly. Please have your donations in by Dec. 20.

Women’s prayer group will begin tomorrow, Mon., Dec. 7 at 7:30 P.M. If you are interested please come to the first meeting where we will discuss the details of how the meetings will be run.

It’s time to order  Encounter with God for the next quarter. This is the resource that the Sunday Adult Ed group uses to study the Bible and many others in the parish use each day for their daily devotions and study. Each reading begins with a prayer then the Bible reading followed by a meditation and more in depth explanation ending with prayer. Would you like to be part of this growing group of parishioners who are connected in this special way? Let Patti know if you would like her to order a copy for you.

Fr. Mic will start a discussion group of the book, The Shack, by William Young on Wednesdays at 8 P.M. starting Jan. 13 and running for 5 weeks. The book is available online or in area bookstores. (There is one book in the office for someone to borrow.)

We have had two groups now take the Contagious Christian course that teaches how to tell your own story of faith and how to tell the Gospel story. Are you interested in spreading your faith? Instead of fumbling would you like to be ready when someone asks you questions about Christ’s story and your faith? If you are interested in joining the next class please speak with Fr. Mic or Patti Anderson during coffee hour. Date and time to be determined.

An order has been placed recently for 24 Bibles for our Sunday School students. If anyone would like to make a donation towards this purchase, please see Patti Anderson during coffee hour.

Niki Tracy is organizing our Christmas caroling this year – next Sun., Dec. 13 at 2 P.M. We will gather at the church and carpool to shut-ins houses and then return to the church afterwards for cocoa, cookies, and a short movie. If you are able and willing please bring some cookies to share.

Check out the “Advent Calendar” link on our website – nyresurrection.org. (It was produced by the Church of England.)

The Missions committee is organizing a gift-giving project for the parents in the Child Abuse Prevention Agency programs. There are 24 moms and dads and we are asking for parishioners to put together small packages of $5 DVDs (available at Walmart) and a package of microwave popcorn. If we have the  packages by Sun., Dec. 20 they can be delivered before Christmas.
