Lay Eucharistic Ministers
Have you ever wondered about the "adult acolytes" that assist with the Eucharist?  Our official title is "lay eucharistic minister" or LEM.  LEMs typically read the New Testament lesson, lead the Prayers of the People, and administer the Chalice.  From time to time we are asked to officiate at Evening Prayer when the priest is unavailable.

Unlike many groups at the Church, LEMs are not quite volunteers, but are asked to be readers by the priest.  They must attend a comprehensive training course, after which they are licensed to serve in their home parish.  Each year each lay reader is asked to send a letter to the Bishop, requesting that his lay reader's license be renewed.

Current Lay Readers
          Al Benson
          Tom Crisman
          Anne Kasin*
          Joe Haubrich
       Leeann Haubrich*
           Liz Pavelka*

* These are also licensed lay ministers;  when required, they carry the sacrament to members of the congregation who are unable to attend the Eucharist.
