I have long been an avid witness to, and advocate of, the instinctive giving nature of the Church of the Resurrection. As I've worked on the Membership Committee, I have frequently been in a position to assess needs of parishioners and then to recruit the congregation's assistance to help in various situations.
But never have I myself been on the receiving end of so much spontaneous love and giving!! The outpouring of prayers, hugs, concern, cards, shared tears and experiences, presence at my mother's funeral, and offers of help from this wonderful parish have been just overwhelming to me.
I believe this has taught me that there is, of course, a time to help others but that there is also a time to let yourself be cared for by others - in grateful humility.
Thankyou for helping me learn this lesson in such a gentle and loving way.
