Craft Fair 2000

Event Quite Successful!

Joan Fuller
Monthly crafts and pot luck dinners started our preparation for Craft Fair 2000. Also items continued to be crafted at home. Fortunately we had a week to set up-- organization is key. With the layout set up and our hand crafts placed in position, the "at home" crafts started to come in.

Our theme "Circus, Circus" found Millie Doughty and Joan Fuller dressed as clowns. Dot Wood with curly orange hair looked like Dame Edith and Essie Churchill like a gypsy. Thank your for following the them (a big hit!) that with the balloons and the tent added to the look we wanted and we all had great fun. Dot and Jim Wood's daughter sang some beautiful tunes on the karaoke machine, with a little interference from Joan Fuller and Regina Furphy!

On Saturday we were happy with the results: crafts $1,668.70, bake shoppe $311.55, cafe $445.95, youth tips $47.38, doll clothes $354.50, doll ensemble raffle $1016.75, and photo raffle $57.00. After costs a net profit of $3,702.45. Sunday sales brought and addition $100.00 and counting.

Special thank yous to:

Jerry Richter who artfully hand crafted the doll wardrobe and bed; Betty Richter who crocheted the afghan for the bed. All the other bed covers and clothes for the raffle plus other dolls, stuffed animals fully beautifully clothes and tons of doll clothes, apron sets, etc. by Lola Lofman. Assisted in sales by Patti Anderson.

The picture of the Mid Hudson Bridge donated by Al Blodgett. Lynn Kasin and Fishkill Health Center for tables and helium for our balloons. Bake Shoppe: Jean and Bob Hoose, Marilyn Ciancio and the many bakers, a big thanks to Vanessa Neely, baker of 10 pies! The cafe staff of Joe Simone, Vinnie Kobos, Tom Crisman, Don Lofman, Vanessa Neely, Bob Hoose, Bert Mazzuto captained by Theresa Simone and assisted by Lisa Hadad who made all the cafe table center pieces. Youths who waited tables, Katie Kobos, A. J. Simone, Andrea Iarossi, Kelly Whitford, Patrick Whitford.

Last listed but prime in importance to the craft fair are the crafters spearheaded by Zita Kobos and Mary Schneider. They brought in fresh ideas and kept us going. Essie Churchill (of preserves and pickles fame), Mille Doughty (aprons and pillows fame), Dot and Jim Wood (of hand painted birds and pins fame), also donated our new gazebo, Theresa Simone (of firestarters fame), Barbara Dinehart (festive holiday needlepoint subjects), Betty Morris (crafts and donated our new Christmas tree), Elizabeth Triano (doll jewelry), Scott Neely (pictures for our raffle), Regina Furphy (flyers and raffle tickets) .

Many of you who brought new items and Christmas items to sell, goodies for our bake shoppe, ate at our cafe, and purchased items made this a total congregation effort and it was meant to be for our total success. Thank you.

Big kudos to people on hand all week and helped with clean up--a very long and tiresome job--thanks to all: Deanie Evans, Marilyn Ciancio, Barbara McLain, Anthony Simone, Essie Churchill, Millie Doughty, Patti Anderson, Lisa Hadad, Jean Hoose and Bob Hoose the backbone of our success. It was fun and a pleasure to do for our wonderful Church of the Resurrection.
