The Church Library Has Something for YOU!! Karin Lemke |
Our library, assembled on three bookshelves in the undercroft, is a good place to browse. Among the shiny, new editions are some time worn and timeless volumes to be cherished. The books are loosely organized according to some general subjects and headings. The tall bookcase holds sections on the Bible and the Episcopal Church. There are wonderful tapes and videos and several volumes on prayer. The two lowest shelves hold childrens books and Sunday School material. The smallest bookshelf has the stories of the saints and a variety of volumes on world religions. There is also a section on concerns of everyday life: illness and addiction, social and personal issues, and methods of healing and coping. The third, mid-sized bookcase holds works of our great writers including Bonhoffer, C.S.Lewis, Merton, LEngle, Muggeridge, Tillich, Mother Theresa, and many others. There are sections of fiction and classics, interspersed with little volumes of meditation, reflection, and humor, and a basket of journals. Please sign books out in the little book. And please add journals or clippings of articles you would like to share in the journal basket. Donations of books can be made through Father Austin. Please call me (897-9743) with any suggestions or requests. Happy reading! New Titles for Autumn: B. Courrege, ed., The Joy of Resurrection Gail Godwin, Heart Kent M. Keith, Anyway J.
