We welcome guests and newcomers to Resurrection. We hope you will join us, not only for this worship service, but also for the fellowship of coffee hour and a potluck picnic afterwards. Thank you to the Sunday School teachers for hosting our picnic this morning.
Despite rainy weather, Resurrection's 3rd Annual Pig Roast was a success. About 100 people gathered in the undercroft and enjoyed the music of Steel Passion, fresh corn (from the Shriver garden), and of course the pig. Many thanks to all who helped with setting up, clean up, providing canopies, and welcoming new faces.
When was the last time you and your spouse had a date night? – Join us this Fri., Sept. 18 from 6 to 9:30 P.M. for a candle-lit dinner and a movie with your spouse. See flyer for more info.
This Sat. Sept 19, at 6 P.M. is our annual chili cook-off in the undercroft. There will be lots of chili and other wagon train foods including hot dogs and bread available to make the chili go down smoother. Admission is $10 for adults; children 12 and under are free. Proceeds will go to the youth group for their various ministries. If you would like to be a chili (or other) cooker, please contact Paul Curran at bqcurran@frontiernet.net. or 226-6861.
We need your help to make this year’s Silent Auction a success. Do you know someone who would like to donate a gift to be auctioned? If you frequent a restaurant or other place of business, consider asking the owner/manager if they would give a donation. If we all provided one quality item we would have a bounty of gifts for auction! So mark your calendars now – our Silent Auction and Dinner is on Fri., Oct. 16 from 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets are on sale during coffee hour. Make sure to invite all friends and family to this fun event with great food, fellowship and the opportunity to bid on/ win some great items for auction!
The 34th Crop Walk for Hunger is Sun., Oct. 18 from 10 to 2 P.M. starting at the Jewish Community Center in Poughkeepsie. Resurrection’s representatives will begin their walk at 12 P.M. To donate or walk please call Sherry, 541-1371 or Marie, 221-9412. More details are on the flyer included with your bulletin.
Volunteers needed! Would you be willing to watch our little ones in the nursery? – with enough volunteers you would only be on the schedule one Sunday every 2 months. Please see Sherry Savoury during coffee hour to volunteer.
Are you interested in learning how to naturally and effectively communicate your faith? Something exciting has happened at Resurrection this summer! A group of us has participated in a course called “Becoming a Contagious Christian”. The course is designed to help everyday Christians – like you and me – to confidently and effectively spread their faith to people they know by using their own personal, God-given style. The first class will be held on Monday nights from 7 to 8:30 P.M. from Oct. 5 through Nov. 9. Please speak to Patti Anderson to confirm your attendance so enough materials can be ordered.
Envelopes of Craft Fair raffle tickets are in the undercroft mailboxes. Please take yours home today to help us save postage. If every family can sell just three books, it gives us a wonderful start - so take them to neighbors, co-workers, and friends: there's a prize to appeal to everyone!
It’s time to order the next “Encounter with God” booklets. Please let Patti know if you would like to receive a copy. For more information see Fr. Mic or Patti during coffee hour.
