We welcome guests and newcomers to Resurrection. We hope you will join us, not only for this worship service, but also for the fellowship of coffee hour afterwards. Thank you to Eileen Doherty for providing coffee hour this morning.
The deadline for our next newsletter is Sun., Sept. 13. Now is the time to write an article about your ministry’s or committee’s upcoming events – so the entire parish family can mark their calendars. Please send articles to our editor, Deke Rothacker, at dekedeb@frontiernet.net. The goal is to have the newsletter in the mail by Fri., Sept. 18.
On Sun., Sept. 13 we will celebrate Welcome Back Sunday with Sunday School registration and a potluck picnic. Look for sign-up sheets on the bulletin board – details to follow.
As you know, over the past several months there has been a group of your fellow parishioners meeting on a regular basis searching for God's direction for our parish. The Compass Committee is now ready to initiate the next phase of the discernment process. On Sun., Sept. 13 during the 10 A.M. service, we will explain this next step and give everyone an opportunity for their voice to be heard when it comes to the direction God is calling us as a parish family. I can not stress enough how important it is for everyone to be included in this process – so please make plans to be in attendance. – Fr. Mic
We need your help to make this year’s Silent Auction a success. Do you know someone who would like to donate a gift to be auctioned –an artist or author, someone who makes beautiful crafts or baskets, someone with a timeshare they never use? If you frequent a particular restaurant or other place of business, consider asking the owner/manager if they would give a donation. If we all provided one quality item we would have a bounty of gifts for auction! So mark your calendars now – our Silent Auction and Dinner is on Fri., Oct. 16 from 7 to 11 p.m. Make sure to invite all friends and family to this fun event with great food and fellowship and the opportunity to bid on and win some great items for auction!
Date Night: Couples, mark your calendars now. The COR Men’s Group is sponsoring dinner and a movie on Fri., Sept. 18 from 6 to 9:30 P.M. So save the date – more details to follow.
Are you interested in learning how to naturally and effectively communicate your faith? Something exciting has happened at Resurrection this summer (one thing among many)! A group of us has participated in a course called “Becoming a Contagious Christian”. The course is designed to help everyday Christians – like you and me – to confidently and effectively spread their faith to people they know. The emphasis is on natural approaches that work over time to bring family members, friends, coworkers, and neighbors to the point of trusting in Christ. If you are someone who thinks relational evangelism is very important but “it’s not really my area,” then we want you to know that this course is especially for you. You will learn how to communicate the message of Christ in your own personal, God-given style. If you are interested, please speak to Patti Anderson or Fr. Mic. Watch for details about times and dates (morning and/or evening sessions are possible).
