Announcements from May 4, 2008

We welcome guests and newcomers to Resurrection. We hope you will join us, not only for this worship service, but also for the fellowship of coffee hour downstairs afterwards. Thank you to His Kidz Youth Group for hosting coffee hour this morning.

Our altar flowers are given to the glory of God and in loving memory of Rena and Jerome Campomenosi.

Pentecost is Sun., May 11. We will have a joyous celebration followed by a Mothers’ Day brunch put on by the men of the parish! Please wear red on Pentecost to help make our worship space especially festive!

We had over 50 people celebrate Ascension Day last Thursday and then stay and enjoy a delicious ice cream social. Thank you to all in the Parish Life Committee for the delicious treat! As we were eating our treats, the shepherds presented their ideas for giving away $1000 to help the needy in our community. Debbie Evans’s group won the trophy for this year! Congratulations to them! Ask her during coffee hour about the worthy cause that her group suggested. Maybe your group will win next year!

The deadline for our next newsletter is Sun.,  May 18. Please send articles to our editor, Deke Rothacker, at dekedeb@juno.com. This newsletter will cover the end of the Sunday School year and summer activities. Let the parish know what your group is planning. The next newsletter will come out at the end of August.

The Adult Ed Bible Study is starting to explore the Book of Psalms today. This informal class runs from 8:30 - 9:15 A.M. every week in the undercroft. Participants are welcome to join any Sunday - come, try it!

June 20 and 21 - Resurrection is once again holding a yard sale so please keep that in mind as you do your spring cleaning - we'd love to have what you no longer want (no clothing however). Mark your calendars now. Details will follow soon.

You will find a  silly  statement somewhere in the bulletin today for the last time. If you have not yet called or emailed Patti why not do it this week so your name will go into the drawing. It would be great to know “its the best, beats the rest, cellular modgular, interact u bobular” that more people were reading the bulletin each week and aware of all of the church’s activities!

Resurrection's annual Craft Fair and Cafe is tentatively scheduled for Sat., Nov. 8.  This fundraiser has traditionally been a source of welcomed income to our operating budget, a time of wonderful fellowship, and an annual November event in the Hopewell community. Its planning and preparation need to start by late May so, without adequate leadership forthcoming very soon, it will have to be dropped from our calendar. Please let Anne Kasin know this week if you are interested - 227-4165.

The Missions Committee will meet this Tuesday at 7 P.M. to discuss what we will do with the monies allocated to outreach for this year. If you would like your voice heard, please come to the meeting or let Liz Pavelka know ahead of time - 297-4907.

The Missions Committee would like to request your help again in collecting items for Hudson River Housing during May. Please see the handout with your bulletin for the items being collected this month. A box will be set up downstairs for your donations.
