We welcome guests and newcomers to Resurrection. We hope you will join us, not only for this worship service, but also for the fellowship of coffee hour downstairs afterwards. Than you to Sue Blodgett and the Evans family for providing coffee hour this morning.
Our altar flowers this morning are given to the glory of God and in thanksgiving for Fr. Mic’s 1st year anniversary as Rector of Resurrection. We are indeed blessed to have Fr. Mic as our Priest! Congratulations, Mic!
Now with the holidays over it is the time of year when it is especially hard for people who are shut-ins. The weather is gloomy and cold and depression can set in. If you have the time this week, please consider dropping a note to our parishioners that are home bound or in the hospital: Bill and Marion Crowfoot, Will Happ, Dot Wood. (Directories are on the back table if you need their addresses.)
Our annual meeting and potluck lunch is next Sun., Jan. 27 following the 9:30 service. There is a sign-up downstairs for the potluck - please bring your favorite dish. We will have just one service at 9:30. Change of plans - we will have Sunday School and are planning a quiet activity for the children during the meeting if anyone would like to help.
The vestry has nominated the following people to be elected at our annual meeting on Jan. 27: Warden - Rob Furphy; for vestry, 3 year terms - Vanessa Neely, Lynn Kasin, Joe Haubrich; 2 year term - Lauren Neely; 1 year term - Dorothy Metzger. In addition, nominations may be made from the floor or in advance in writing to the rector.
After over 25 years of service as our treasurer Betty Richter is retiring and moving to the Carolinas. We are planning to honor her at the annual meeting. If you would like to contribute to a gift for her please give your donation to Bert Mazzuto or place it in the plate marked “Betty’s gift”.
Fr. Mic will be holding First Communion classes during Lent. Please contact him if you are interested in having your child attend these classes. (Even if your child has been receiving Communion, they may attend.) Dates and times will be determined by Fr. Mic and participants.
Our Lenten Educational series this year will again be on Wednesday nights (starting on Feb. 13 at 6 P.M.), starting with a Eucharist, simple supper, followed by the program. For those unable to attend on Wed. nights, the program will also be held on Sunday mornings starting on Feb. 17 in lieu of the Adult Ed program at 8:30. The Wed. night program will include a video series for the children held in the undercroft. There are 2 sign-up sheets on the bulletin board downstairs for the soup and bread supper - one for the food and one for attendance so we know how much food to provide and how many books to purchase.
For our Lenten Series this year we will be using the first part of the “Doing Life Together” video series. God never intended for you to do life alone but to do life together in community. This introductory group study, Beginning Life Together, gives you an overview of the five biblical purposes God intends for living together in community. This study will take you on a 6-week journey through these five purposes and give you a taste of the life God created you to live.
