Announcements from December 23, 2007 A.D. [Advent IV]

We welcome guests and newcomers to Resurrection. We hope you will join us, not only for this worship service, but also for the fellowship of coffee hour downstairs afterwards. Thank you to Janet Svenson for hosting coffee hour this morning.

Be thoughtful, be silent, be reverent; for this is the House of God. Before the service speak to the Lord; during the service let the Lord speak to you; after the service speak to one another.

About receiving Holy Communion: Those who have been baptized with water in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and are in a state of love and charity with their neighbors, are welcome to receive Holy Communion here at the Church of the Resurrection.

A special thank you goes out to Debbie Evans, Brenda Curran, and all of our Youth Group for all the time and effort that went into making our St. Nicholas brunch last Saturday so successful. They shopped, decorated, greeted, read stories, played games, served food, handed out presents, and helped clean up among many other things. And we would also like to thank everyone in the parish who gave so graciously and generously of their time and donations so we could serve these families. Check out our website  to see some of the photos of the event.

A slight change of plans - today we will be going Christmas caroling at our shut-ins´ houses at 3:30 this afternoon. Join us and help give our shut-ins some Christmas cheer and then come back to the church and enjoy a hot cup of cocoa with your fellow carolers!

Because Fr. Mic will be away on Dec. 30, we will not have Youth Sunday that day. Sunday School will be held as usual.

Check your mailbox downstairs. You may have some important Christmas greetings (or other important news) awaiting you!

More details about our Christmas services: at our Family service on Christmas Eve at 5:30 P.M. we will have the blessing of the Creche where the children will carry the Creche pieces as part of the procession. If you would like the Baby Jesus from your own family Nativity set to be blessed we will be doing this at all 3 services. Bring yours and place it on the altar. Our 10:30 P.M. midnight service will include music with the Resurrection choir. And our Chrismas morning service will be at 9:30 A.M. All 3 services will have traditional Christmas carols.

The holiday season is upon us and, as usual, this creates a crisis in supplies in our local Blood Banks. Will you please help? The next  regular Ecumenical Blood Drive is scheduled at the First Reformed Church of Fishkill on Tues., Jan. 8 from 2 - 7:30 P.M. An alternative site is at the Hopewell Reformed Church on Fri., Jan. 4 from 3 - 8:30 P.M. If you can donate at either site, please sign up on the sheets on the narthex bulletin board - thank you!

Fr. Mic and his family will be away from Christmas afternoon until Dec. 31. Please call Bert Mazzuto at home, 463-2969, or on his cell phone, 845-464-0010. Fr. Robert Browning will also be available for emergencies – office, 452-6832, home, 454-8348.
